Blanco Brown stopped to chat with Billboard’s Tetris Kelly on the red carpet at the 2019 American Music Awards on Sunday, discussing the “Git Up” dance craze, new music and what “trailer trap” is.

Asked how it feels to see so many people doing the “Git Up” dance and whether they get it right, Brown tells Billboard, “I see a lot of people doing the dance and smiling – that’s all that counts.”

Blanco Brown also chats about his recently released debut album Honeysuckle & Lightning Bugs, noting that there are a “whole bunch of smashes” on it.

“[I am] loving every record,” he says. “I went through like 80 records to pick those top 10…And then I have a single coming out with Parmalee called ‘Just the Way.’ It’s next level and it has purpose also, so I’m glad to be a part of it.”

In the interview, Brown is asked how he feels about artists such as himself and Lil Nas X succeeding in country music, to which he replies, “I feel like you make music from the heart and you make it with art and it’s gonna do what it’s supposed to do. I call it trailer trap.”
