Daddy Yankee Offers Free Concert After Technical Failure During Puerto Rico Show

Music

On Thursday (Dec. 5) urban superstar Daddy Yankee kicked off the first of his ten Con Calma Pal’ Choli shows at San Juan’s Coliseo de Puerto Rico, where he experienced a technical failure in the middle of the show.

Yankee was on a platform at the top of the coliseum singing “Somos de la Calle” and the platform — which was supposed to descend — didn’t do so during the song.

“Puerto Rico, please excuse me, this is a technical failure. I’m supposed to be down there with you,” he said. He proceeded to offer all attendees a free concert to make up for the bad moment.

Daddy Yankee, who is considered a pioneer of reggaeton, is the mastermind behind hits such as “Con Calma,” “Dura” and “Despacito,” his collaboration with Luis Fonsi.

Produced by Rafael Pina, Con Calma Pal’ Choli is set to continue on Saturday (Dec. 7) and is scheduled to wrap up two days before the year ends. This is his first return to the venue in twelve years.
