E! News has reached out to a rep for Thomas Sr. for additional comment and the Philippine National Police PIO but have not yet heard back.
In a statement to E! News, the FBI noted the organization is “aware of the allegations and will provide support, as appropriate, to the Philippine authorities. We will also investigate any related allegations of federal violations of U.S. law.”
Thomas Jr., 60, told The Sunthat he reported his dad to authorities and the FBI in the U.S. after allegedly finding child sex abuse images stored in boxes at his father’s home in the Philippines.
“When I found this material I was horrified and I had no option but to report my dad,” Thomas Jr. told the publication. “I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years—but that stops now. I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him.”
The Duchess of Sussex has notably been estranged from her dad, previously opening up about their fractured relationship.
“There was such an obsession with anything in my world, including tracking down my parents, and I did everything I could to protect both of them in that media frenzy,” Meghan—whose mom is Doria Ragland—told Oprah Winfrey in a 2021 interview. “But for over a year, the U.K. tabloids were trying to find my dad, offering people so much money to try to find his address.”
