Hello there, and welcome to the first digest post of June! Here are some of the latest newsmakers from the world of comics.
News From DC and Marvel
- Disney and Marvel’s VFX workers now have a union contract for the first time, hopefully bringing an end to the horror stories about underpaid, overworked employees being subjected to harassment and last-minute additions to their workloads.
- Writer Peter David, best known for his work on titles like Incredible Hulk and X-Factor, passed away on May 25 after several years of struggling with multiple health issues. As I write this, the family’s GoFundMe is still up, so consider pitching in to cover his final medical bills, if you can.
- Marvel has done a big reshuffle on their upcoming films, including pushing back the next two Avengers movies.
- Speaking of reshuffling, EA Games continues to lay off employees and cancel projects, including a Black Panther video game. An unspecified new game is in the works to replace the canceled game.
- Entertainment Weekly revealed the first match-up fans can expect in the upcoming DC/Marvel crossover comics.
- Agatha All Along and Daredevil: Born Again were among the most-watched shows of 2024.
- If you’re eagerly anticipating Born Again‘s next season, you now have a new reason to get excited: Krysten Ritter is returning at Jessica Jones.
- Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell had a chat about what it was like playing the Penguin (and some other stuff).
