Hoda Kotb opened about her family’s latest health journey.

Just four months after exiting Today, the 60-year-old returned to Studio 1A, during which she shared daughter Hope, 6, has Type 1 diabetes, a diagnosis she was given in 2023.

“Hope is fine for most of the day. There are just moments where you have to watch her,” Hoda told former cohosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie May 28. “I was totaling it up—five minutes at breakfast, five minutes at lunch, five minutes at dinner, sometimes overnight. Add that up, that’s a half-hour.”

“So, for 23 and a half hours,” she added. “She’s every other kid. So, I try to remember that.”

Hoda, also mom to daughter Haley, 8, with ex Joel Schiffman, shared that Hope’s Type 1 diabetes came with a new perspective on her day to day life, and how she works with her to manage her newfound illness.
