Trump promotes golden ‘Never Surrender Hi-Top’ trainers for $399 a pair

US

Donald Trump is promoting a line of Trump-branded trainers for $399 (£316) a pair.

The presidential hopeful appeared at “Sneaker Con” in Philadelphia, a footwear convention which brands itself “The Greatest Sneaker Show on Earth”.

Trump was met with boos and cheers at the Philadelphia Convention Centre as he introduced what he called the first official Trump footwear.

The trainers are bright gold hi-tops emblazoned with a “T”, American flag detailing on the back and a red and white sole.

They are being branded as “Never Surrender Hi-Tops” on a new website which is also selling other Trump branded products including shoes, aftershave and perfume.

The site says it is not connected to the Trump campaign, but Trump campaign officials have promoted the site in online posts.

Speaking at the event, the former president said: “There’s a lot of emotion in this room. This is something that I’ve been talking about for 12 years, 13 years. And I think it’s going to be a big success.”

The new website says it is run by CIC Ventures LLC, a company that Mr Trump reported owning in his 2023 financial disclosure.

The website states the new venture “is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign”.

However, it describes the sneakers as a limited-edition, numbered “true collector’s item” that is “Bold, gold, and tough, just like President Trump”.

The description reads: “The Never Surrender sneakers are your rally cry in shoe form. Lace-up and step out ready to conquer.”
