That’s a wrap on Extraction 2. On Instagram, director Sam Hargrave has revealed that filming has officially been wrapped on the Chris Hemsworth-led sequel that has been in development for a future release on Netflix. Hargrave posted a video of himself from the set while announcing that shooting is in the can, so it’s off to the post-production process at this point. You can see the Instagram post below.

“That’s a wrap!!! Last day of principle photography on Extraction 2,” Hargrave says in the caption. “What an incredible journey. Thank you to all of the cast and crew, this was an epic achievement and I am so proud of everyone. THANK YOU!!!”

In the video, the director adds, “What a ride… This has been an amazing journey, and I am so excited for you all to see the final product.”

As for Chris Hemsworth, the film’s lead star, the actor had finished up his work on the movie about a week prior to the project wrapping. Hargrave had posted another video at the time of Hemsworth addressing the Extraction 2 team from the set while Hargrave announced that the actor had finished up filming all of his scenes for the project.

At the time, Hargrave wrote, “That’s a wrap for Tyler Rake! We’ve got another week left of shooting but man has it been an epic run!! Thanks to Chris Hemsworth for another amazing performance and for being such a fantastic collaborator. A true legend.”

Fans loved Extraction, so the news of a sequel getting made with Chris Hemsworth back in the lead role was met with a pretty warm response. However, many fans can’t help but question how this can be possible, given that it seemed Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake died with no chance of recovery. Perhaps his injuries weren’t as bad as they appeared to be, or maybe this could even be a prequel. In any case, Hemsworth will be back in the role for another action-packed journey.

Released to Netflix in 2020, Extraction is directed by Sam Hargrave. It comes from a story by the Russo brothers and Ande Parks with Joe Russo penning the screenplay. Along with Hemsworth, the film stars Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour. The film was a big hit with Netflix viewers, pulling in high viewership and quickly prompting the streamer to put in the order for a sequel.

Extraction can be found streaming on Netflix. Extraction 2 doesn’t yet have a release date.
