Halloween Ends Set Photo Unites the Returning Survivors

Movies

The survivors are back together in an early set photo for Halloween Ends, the third installment of Blumhouse’s Halloween movie trilogy. Shortly after Jamie Lee Curtis revealed an image of herself on the set in character as Laurie Strode, producer Jason Blum shared another set photo providing another good look at the scream queen’s return. In the photo, Curtis is also joined by a returning Kyle Richards as Lindsay Wallace and Andi Matichak as Laurie’s granddaughter Allyson.

Production is clearly underway on the new Halloween film. While we knew the surviving women of the Strode family would be coming back, it’s also fun to see Lindsay back as well for another Halloween film. She was one of the few survivors of Halloween Kills, unlike most of the returning legacy characters. Maybe Michael Myers will finally take her out in the next movie, but for now, the three survivors are all smiles in a Haddonfield bar until Michael inevitably starts killing again.

It also seems likely that this will be the final movie to feature Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. Of course, we have seen various fates befall Laurie throughout the Halloween series, which consists of many contradictory timelines. She has been killed off multiple times in the past, so Laurie’s potential death in Halloween Ends wouldn’t necessarily mean she can’t come back in another reboot. However, the reality is that JLC is filming Halloween Ends at 63 years old, and the actress herself has even suggested that this next movie is the end of the road.

“I would say, given what I know about the next movie, I think it will be the last time that I will play her,” Curtis told Total Film magazine of Halloween Ends. “And I’m not saying something like, ‘Oh, because I die!’ It’s nothing to do with that. I’m talking about emotionally what they have constructed. I think it will be a spectacular way to end this trilogy.”

With or Without Laurie Strode, the Halloween Saga Will Live On

Halloween Kills Doesn't Have Laurie Strode as the Main Character

Blumhouse only has a deal in place to develop three Halloween movies, and Halloween Ends was produced with the idea of concluding a full story. The film will likely show us the final confrontation between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, serving as the climax of a long-running feud that began in 1978 and carried on throughout various timelines. Let’s just hope it ends in a way that leaves the fans satisfied if this really is the last hurrah for Laurie Strode.

Even if Laurie dies or otherwise rides off into the sunset with Halloween Ends, we can also be sure we haven’t seen the last of Michael Myers. The masked menace is still a dominant force at the box office and with Halloween remaining one of horror’s most popular franchises, we can be sure that new movies in the series will be made for some time to come. Jason Blum has suggested that he’d love to continue making more of these films at Blumhouse.

“We made an arrangement for three movies,” he told ComicBook.com last year. “We had a three-picture marriage with Michael Myers. I would love to extend it. If Malek [Akkad] would like us, I’d love to extend it, but we’re very busy making sure the third movie is spectacular because that’s our immediate job and if it goes beyond that, I’d be thrilled. But there are currently no plans for us to be involved after this third movie.”

Halloween Ends is scheduled to be released in theaters on Oct. 14, 2022.
