Joseph Baena has begun following in his father Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s footsteps by embarking on his own acting career, and it certainly helps to have a veteran Hollywood star as a parent to help offer some useful advice. Just getting started with his own foray into acting, Baena has had a couple of roles filmed for some upcoming movie projects, and it appears we may be seeing him on the big screen soon enough. Perhaps it was fate as the son of Schwarzenegger.
Speaking about being Arnold’s son on the Unwaxed podcast, Baena opened on the discussions he’d had with his dad about acting. With Baena getting more roles, Schwarzenegger stressed the importance of practicing his lines until he could recite them while performing other mundane daily tasks, and while these are things Baena feels like he knows already, it’s good advice as it really works. From the podcast:
“My dad really gives me like the most, not generic, because it’s like really good advice, but it’s like, ‘Aw, I feel I already knew that.’ Like with acting and stuff, it’s always about the reps. Just practicing, practicing until you can just say it. Everyone always comes to me like, ‘How do you learn all these lines?’ I’m like, ‘Well it’s through the reps and it’s what my dad told me.’ Once you’re able to say these lines while washing dishes, doing your laundry, someone trying to interrupt you, then you can say them whenever. When the camera is going and you’re saying these lines you have the boom stick in your face, the cameras, moving around, maybe your scene partner misses a line or something and you have to improv real quick, a car is passing by, so they have to cut it right there. You just have to roll with it.”
Joseph Baena Is Looking to Make His Own Mark in Hollywood
Previously, Baena played the role first played by his father in Terminator 2 for a short film remaking a key scene from the beloved sequel. The footage shows just how much Baena resembles his father as it’s clear for viewers they’re indeed looking at the son of the Terminator.
The scene remake must have also given Baena the acting bug because he’s been further pursuing his acting career since. He has roles in upcoming films like Chariot with John Malkovich and Rosa Salazar; Bully High with Betsy Russell and Taylor Jabara; and Encounters with Madison McKinley and Sade Katarina.
Meanwhile, Joseph’s father Arnold Schwarzenegger is still moving along with his own acting career as well with no plans of slowing down anytime soon. The 74-year-old plays the President in the upcoming martial arts comedy sequel Kung Fury 2. He also voices the lead character in the new cartoon series Superhero Kindergarten. Inspired by Kindergarten Cop, the role Schwarzenegger has dubbed as his favorite, the actor had created the series with Stan Lee prior to Lee’s death. It premiered on the streaming service Kartoon Channel in 2021.
