Newman turned a rotten result into a golden moment when his song flatlined during the Eurovision final. With a beer in hand, the Brit revved up the audience at the Rotterdam Ahoy, earning him the type of applause typically reserved for the winner.
At the other end of the Eurovision scoreboard was Italian rock band Måneskin, winner of the big prize with “Zitti E Buoni,” which earned a grand total of 524 points.
Their winning song sits just behind Newman at the midweek point in the chart cycle, at No. 37.
According to the OCC’s chart data, entries from Iceland, France, Ukraine, Cyprus and Norway could impact the U.K. Top 100, due to be published late Friday.
