Creative and Image Director Peter Phillips described the look as “confident and natural.”

Dior held its Cruise 2021 show in Lecce, Italy earlier this week in an unprecedented format – namely, there was no audience present due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But that didn’t stop designer Maria Grazia Chiuri from delivering a jawdropping show, rich in symbolism and packed with beautiful pieces and accessories. And whilst there was no shortage of sartorial gold to feast our eyes upon, the beauty look was also key. A reflection of the simpler times we find ourselves in, creative and image director Peter Phillips created a beautifully minimalist look for the show – and it turns out that there’s one main product you need to replicate it at home.

In a video shared exclusively with FASHION, Phillips talks about his inspiration for the Dior Cruise 2021 beauty look – which he described as “gorgeous, beautiful, young, strong women with luminous skin” – distilling it down to three key elements: “Great skin, beautiful eyebrows, little bit of mascara.”

The eyes were a key focus for the show, with Phillips explaining that they wanted to bring attention to the area. To do so, he and his team used the Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara ($37, Sephora.ca), which has recently been given a formula upgrade. “It’s a great brush, it’s one of our most popular mascaras,” explains Phillips. “If you want a long-lasting, all-day lash, from a natural finish to a bit more elaborate – the Iconic Overcurl is the one to go to.”

The mascara has a curved brush that delivers curl and volume to lashes in one simple swipe. Given we’re all wearing masks for the foreseeable future, simply pass this bad boy over your lashes and you’re good to go – whether to the grocery store or to a patio for a socially distanced beverage.
