The official lineup for Coachella 2020 has been announced, and people are talking. We’re not going to pretend the SoCal festival isn’t problematic. Its founder has donated to anti-LGBTQ senators and organizations, and it’s usually pretty low on women artists, to name a couple of things. But for all its issues, it’s still a huge event attended by huge stars that always produces some kind of cultural moment (*cough* Beyoncé).
Here’s your need-to-know on this year’s fest.

When is this thing?
As usual, it’s the same lineup for two back-to-back weekends in April. This year, it’s April 10–12 and April 17–19.
Can I still get tickets?
The first weekend is already sold out, and the presale for the second weekend starts January 6 at noon PST. You can’t buy single-day passes—only three-day ones for the whole weekend—and it’s capped at four per person.
Uh, but can I even afford the tickets?
Prices are steep. One ticket will cost you a cool $429 USD, minimum—and that’s without accommodation or a shuttle pass. VIP passes are $1,000 USD. You can do a payment plan where you pay half up front and half a month later, but you have to make your initial purchase by January 15.
Is it worth it tho? Who’s playing?

Rage Against the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean are headlining this year, with some other big names like Lana Del Rey, 21 Savage, Calvin Harris, Lil Nas X and Swae Lee making appearances.
But we’re sad to see that this year is super low on women artists. Variety did the math and writes, “…looking at the 10 top-billed artists on each day, Friday’s is 2/10 female, Saturday’s is 3/10, and Sunday’s rockets the XX-chromosome ratio to 4/10.”
So, considering the glaring lack of talented female performers, our roundup of the acts we’re most pumped to see on the lineup has a particular focus on the ladies. They could do with the extra love.
