Goodee and Kotn Have Collaborated On a Gender-Neutral, Eco-Conscious Hoodie

Sustainability, honesty and inclusivity are some of the shared values the brands wish to reinforce through this collaboration.

Two of Canada’s most prominent socially responsible brands have come together to create a limited edition product. The Goodee Hoodie, which launched today, is the result of a collaboration between Goodee, an ethical online marketplace, and Kotn, a sustainable fashion brand.

Designed in Canada and ethically crafted in Egypt from sustainably-sourced 100% authentic Egyptian cotton, each hoodie “was created with a commitment to community and quality, working directly with every step of the supply chain, from farm to hanger,” according to a press release.

Kotn, a certified B Corp whose commitment to social responsibility is a key part of the brand’s DNA, works directly with cotton farming families in Egypt to produce all the minimalist wardrobe basics it’s now famous for.

“The objective behind the Goodee Hoodie was to introduce a wardrobe staple that acts as a season-less and genderless companion for our audience,” said Goodee co-founder Dexter Peart in a statement. “At Goodee, we believe in promoting design excellence through collaboration and co-creation therefore the opportunity to partner with a likeminded brand like Kotn was very attractive.”

FASHION spoke with Dexter and Byron Peart earlier this year when they announced Goodee as their latest project (they previously co-founded luxe accessories brand WANT Les Essentiels in 2000) and learned that “every brand Goodee carries is evaluated on the following criteria: was it designed with a clear mandate of making the world a better place?”

The gender-inclusive Goodee Hoodie has been designed with a gender-neutral fit and is available in four colours – Black, Alabaster, Mimosa and a colour-blocked version called Multi Alabaster. The words ‘Environment’, ‘Community’ and ‘Quality’—representing the shared core values of both brands—are printed on the back of the sweatshirt under the hood.

“The shared values we wish to reinforce through this collaboration include not only sustainability and transparency in responsible production, but also more broadly: honesty, kindness, compassion, diversity and inclusivity,” said Byron Peart.

The Goodee Hoodie retails for $135 CAD and is available now at GoodeeWorld.com.
