That’s what we like to hear.

Brace yourself, Awards Season is coming. The 2020 Grammy Awards are airing on January 26, and the nominees for this year’s ceremony have finally been revealed – with female artists leading the charge.

Early today, 15-time Grammy award-winner Alicia Keys (who is returning to host the awards this year) and Bebe Rexha announced that Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Jessie Reyez, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Rosalía, Yola, Lady Gaga, Tarriona “Tank” Ball, Tanya Tucker, Lana Del Rey, Maggie Rogers and Ella Mai are amongst the female musicians up for a golden, gilded gramophone.

It’s a particularly big day for Billie Eilish, as the 17-year old is the youngest artist to ever receive nominations across the top four categories – Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. She’s also nominated for a further two, bringing her overall total to six. Meanwhile Lizzo holds the most nominations of all artists this year, raking in eight in total, which is quite an accomplishment for a new artist nominee.

Although we are disappointed that Beyoncé’s Homecoming: The Live Album isn’t nominated for Album of the Year, Lion King: The Gift received a nod for Best Pop Vocal Album. (Fun fact: Her daughter Blue Ivy is listed on the album credits as a contributing writer for Brown Skin Girl—so this win for Beyoncé would be another accomplishment for Blue Ivy considering she just took home the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award at the 2019 BET Soul Train Awards.)
