Only the most confident singer would tackle an Ariana Grande hit in the early stages of The Voice, right? Right.
That’s what happened during the Blind Auditions Tuesday night when Injoy Fountain, a contestant from Wichita, Kansas, tore through an Ari classic.
With her family looking on, Fountain delivered an impressive freestyle rap over Grande’s “7 Rings,” originally a massive No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
It was a bold choice, remarked Gwen Stefani. John Legend said she delivered like “a boss,” and the performance was “so good,” enthused Kelly Clarkson.
Ultimately, Fountain went with Team Kelly.
